Housing Bill National Demo 13th March

Subject: Housing Bill National Demo 13th March; Save 80 year-old co-op tenant from losing his home.

Dear Housing Activists

Next Sunday 13th March is the National Demo against the Housing Bill.

12 noon Lincolns Inn Fields, marching to Parliament

This will be the last opportunity before the bill is voted on in the lords to show the strength of feeling against it. Can you help us get the word out this week and get as many people there as possible?

We have leaflets which can be collected in Brixton at Art Nouveau Café, 77 Atlantic Road, Brixton or in Peckham - call 07834828292 to arrange collection.

you can download or forward the leaflet electronically on this link

or share the facebook event -

People are organising local meetings against the Bill and the Radical Housing Network have occupied an empty shop in Kensington to set up a social centre for the whole week running up to the demo! See their email below with details of how you can get involved.

Let Tony Healy Come Home

Campaigners in Lambeth are also still challenging the disastrous policies that have made the housing situation in London reach this crisis point  - such as the sale of Housing Co-op homes by Lambeth Council over the last few years.

We were able to temporarily stop the eviction of an 80 year old housing co-op member last Friday but the fight continues to let him return to his home after Lambeth Council chose to have him 'sectioned' rather than cancel the eviction. Please sign and share the petition.

This is the indignity and human suffering behind the policies that treat every home simply as an asset to be cashed in. We need to fight for Tony and all the future vulnerable people who will be hit so hard if social housing is destroyed by the Housing Bill.

If you can volunteer to help with stewarding the march, making placards, or have any other ideas to promote the campaign please reply by email and ask to be added to the googlegroup discussion list which we use for ongoing organising (this list is only for sporadic announcements to avoid spamming people who don't have time to be more involved)

Hope to see you all on the 13th March.

Email from Radical Housing Network Monday 7th March:

Hi all,

In case you missed it in the flurry of events on at the Our House squat in South Kensington, tonight is a special RHN meeting open to all, and focused on our plans for the Kill the Housing Bill national demonstration on Sunday 13th.

We will meet at 7pm at 221 Brompton Rd, SW3 2EJ. Bring a squishy thing for extra comfort.

We'll hear from lots of groups involved in building for the demo, and discuss the plan for the next week and beyond. We're welcoming 'delegates' or organisers/activists who work within other groups related to housing, to cement the links being made between struggles over the last few months - please come and share your experiences!

Check for other events - for example, take action with us today <>  at 3pm against the demolition of the nearby Silchester West estate.

Tomorrow, get involved in cooperative art workshops creating the visuals for the Housing demo, or Wednesday come to an Eviction resistance workshop, a talk analysing London's housing crisis, or a meeting on the the links between housing struggles and the trade unions.

Don't miss our open mic with members of Westway 23 on Thursday night, or Poetry, Rap and Resistance on Friday! Get ready for a partyFriday night to celebrate the incredible work happening across our city that gives us hope in the struggle against rent and oppression. We've got a packed schedule, and food served every evening, hope to see you there!

Our regular monthly meeting will happen as usual on the second Monday of the month, in one week's time, at Unite, Moreland St, Angel.
